About his work

Crystal glass is a form of glass with a high degree of transparency. Lead-crystal (sometimes mentioned as the “Queen of Glass”), is high-quality glass containing lead-oxide (PbO). Every glasswork is qualified as “crystal” when it contains over 24 % lead oxide.

Overlay glass: The surface of colorless, transparent glass is coated in a thin layer of colored crystal glass. Then, when it is subjected to delicate cutting or engraving, the underlying colorless crystal glass stands out as a wonderful contrast to the top coat of colored glass.

Engraving: There are three methods used to engrave glass by cutting into the surface: copperwheel, stonewheel, and diamond bur. Jozsef Nagy uses diamond bur for Intaglio decoration by deep engraving: beautiful design, beautiful patterns depressed below the surface of the glass.
